Accessibility

Wheelchairs

The whole of National Student Pride’s daytime festival at the University of Westminster has step free access. The registration desks, the Pride.Careers fair and the Next Stage are on the ground floor, accessible via a ramp from the street. The main stage and bar are located in a basement level, accessible via a lift.

Deaf/Hard of Hearing

There will be live BSL interpretation on both the Main Stage and the Next Stage.

Photosensitive

Lighting effects are used on both stages. There are no strobes, but sometimes lighting states will change rapidly.

Toilets

All toilets at National Student Pride are gender inclusive. Some of the loos have urinals and others do not – this is marked clearly on the door.

Disabled toilets are also available. We request that you do not use these unless you are unable to access the other facilities.

FAQs

  • Yes! The daytime festival is open to anyone over the age of 16. If you are under 16, you can still attend if you are accompanied by an adult.

Alcohol is served at the daytime festival but photo ID is required. Our two Pride parties, at G-A-Y Late and Heaven, are for over-18s only, but you can still attend brunch to celebrate the end of Pride!

  • Welcome! National Student Pride is a safe and inclusive space for everyone. We're sure you'll have a brilliant time.

Unlike many Prides, ours doesn't have a parade. Instead, we celebrate LGBT+ identities through conversation, and by connecting you to employers who can support you throughout your working life.

When you arrive, someone will ask your name and give you a wristband. The Proud Careers recruitment fair is just around the corner – feel free to wander round, grab some free sweets and chat to the employers about your career options. On this level, you can also attend talks and workshops on our Next Stage. Follow the signs to the Main Stage and you'll find a big underground hall with panel discussions on cutting edge queer issues, as well as a bar and social space.

National Student Pride wouldn't be complete without our two Pride parties, at G-A-Y Late and Heaven. These venues are best known for serving a gay male audience, but the vibe on our nights is inclusive, diverse and super fun. Our Pride parties are for over-18s only and photo ID is required.

If you prefer not to be in a space where people are drinking heavily, that's okay! There's no pressure to drink if you don't want to. While alcohol is served at the daytime festival and at our Sunday brunch, many people there will not be drinking.

  • Many people at National Student Pride are yet to tell their family and friends about who they are, or are still trying to figure that out themselves! It's okay to take your time. Wherever you are on your coming out journey, we think you'll find National Student Pride empowering and inspiring.

There will be people taking photos and videos throughout National Student Pride. At the registration desks, you can request a green lanyard which will let them know that you’d don’t want to be photographed or videoed.

  • We'd love to hear from you! Please email tickets@studentpride.co.uk and one of our team will get back to you.
